Biography
Michel was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He completed his secondary education at Ridley College and then attended the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with a bachelor of arts in history and geography. He received his bachelor of laws and master of laws in commercial law from the University of Wales, Cardiff (UK).
Michel was called to the Law Society of Alberta and practiced both solicitors and barristers work in Edmonton, Alberta for 7 years. While in Edmonton, he established his own firm, Scorgie & Castillo, assisting clients with their business and commercial needs. Michel represented his clients at all levels of Alberta’s Courts as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
During his time in Edmonton, he was active in the legal and local communities. Michel volunteered his time for the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association; he was an instructor with the Legal Education Society of Alberta. Michel gave seminars at Lakeland College on business topics including incorporations, contracts, insurance and negligence. He also volunteered his time for local charities and frequently appeared on television, providing legal commentary on Canadian Learning Television.
Michel was called to the Alberta Bar in 1997, the Ontario Bar in 2005 and joined Advocates LLP on December 1, 2005.
Outside of the practice of law, Michel is an accomplished musician and holds a second degree black belt in taekwondo.
Michel is fluent in Spanish and is able to assist clients in that language. |
