Biography
Lou-Anne Farrell was born in London, Ontario. She received a Bachelor of Laws degree with distinction from The University of Western Ontario in 1986 and was called to the Bar in 1988. She spent the first 18 years of her legal career at Lerners LLP in London, first as an articling student, then as an associate, and as a partner from 1995 to 2004. She joined Advocates LLP in August of 2004 as counsel.
Lou-Anne has developed a focused expertise in all aspects of estate litigation, including will challenges, spousal claims against estates, Powers of Attorney and guardianship disputes and related matters. She is also a trained mediator and is available to act in that capacity with respect to estate-related disputes.
Lou-Anne is the Chair of the Estate Planners’ Council London and a past Chair of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She has spoken at a number of continuing legal education programs of the OBA, the Law Society of Upper Canada and other providers.
Lou-Anne serves on the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario, and is an Honorary Director of the Children's Health Foundation, as well as a member of the Advocacy Council for the Lawson Health Research Institute. She has sat on the boards of a number of community organizations, including as Chair of the Boards of WOTCH (Western Ontario Therapeutic Community Hostel) and the Sexual Assault Centre, London |
